A Word From Our Founder

Hi friends,

This month's 12 Club is a little tour through the many sides of natural wine, bringing together a mix of reds, rosé, whites, and orange wines from independent producers across Europe and beyond.

What makes this collection especially fun is the variety. You'll find familiar grapes like Pinot Grigio alongside less expected bottles and styles, from the bright character of Mataro to the deeper, more expressive reds. There’s also a little rosé and orange wine in the mix, making this a collection with something different to reach for depending on the occasion.

With twelve bottles to explore, there’s plenty of room to experiment—open something new for dinner, bring a bottle to share with friends, or simply work your way through the collection at your own pace.

Thank you for continuing to explore with us and for supporting the independent growers behind these bottles.

Cheers,

Holly

Club Pick 1

A remarkable expression of Malbec (Côt) from 80-year-old vines planted in the well-drained red clay and limestone terraces of Cahors. Crafted by Gilles Bley, this wine defies the region's typical heavy style, offering a brighter, fruit-driven profile with silky tannins and deep complexity. Aged for two years in 600-liter wooden tanks, it’s a smooth, elegant wine that can be enjoyed now or aged further.
Fun Fact: Gilles Bley’s family has been growing grapes in Cahors for generations, and his estate showcases a lighter, more delicate side of the region’s traditionally bold and brooding wines.

Meet Baptiste Bley, the heart and soul behind Clos Siguier, whose family’s deep-rooted connection to winemaking spans generations. Following the devastation of Phylloxera, Baptiste’s ancestors turned to livestock farming, with only a small place for wine production. But by the end of World War I, his great-grandfather, Edmond, revived the vineyards, selling wine in barrels to merchants in Toulouse and Bordeaux. The tradition continued through the 20th century, with Simon and Nicole Bley focusing on bottled wines and creating the brand "Le Clos Siguier." This name is inspired by a plot rich in iron, affectionately known as the "clos d’acier."

Club Pick 2

An organic red from Roussillon made with Grenache Noir and Mourvèdre grown on clay and stone soils. The fruit is hand-harvested and co-fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel, with whole-bunch Mourvèdre layered under destemmed Grenache. After a short maceration, the wine finishes fermentation in tank and rests for 6 months on fine lees in stainless steel and fiberglass. Bottled unfined and unfiltered with low sulfur, it is juicy, earthy, and fresh, with soft structure and a stony finish.

Domaine Lampyres is a family estate in Espira de l'Agly, Roussillon, led by fourth-generation vigneron François-Xavier "F.X." Dauré. After years working alongside Tom Lubbe at Matassa, F.X. took over his family's vineyards in 2015 and began converting them to organic farming. He launched Domaine Lampyres in 2016 with just 600 bottles made in his garage, before gradually building a dedicated cellar and bottling more of the family's fruit. Today, he farms organically with a minimal-intervention approach, producing vibrant, terroir-driven wines that have become some of Roussillon's most exciting new expressions.

Christina Netzl's journey into natural winemaking began at the tender age of 5, tending to her family's farm and vineyard alongside her parents and grandparents. With time, her parents redirected the family business solely towards grape cultivation and winemaking, expanding it to encompass the 28 hectares they currently operate in the Carnuntum winemaking region, situated just east of Vienna and north of the Neusidler See. Christina pursued studies in oenology and wine management in London, immersing herself in diverse wine styles from around the globe. Upon her return to the winery in 2007, she collaborated with her parents, later fostering a fervent commitment to organic viticulture, particularly after becoming a mother of two.

High above the Vipava Valley, Mansus is a small family project from the Makovec family, farming steep hillside vineyards in the village of Brje. Up here, warm Mediterranean air meets cooler continental winds from the Karst Plateau, creating a natural balance in the vines.

The vineyards are farmed organically, and the cellar work stays hands off. All wines ferment with native yeasts only, with no additives or shortcuts. Mansus is also among the few producers working with Klarnica, a rare indigenous grape native to Vipava, helping preserve the region’s wine heritage.

The wines are quietly expressive and textural, with freshness, gentle grip, and a clear sense of place. They are not flashy, just honest, naturally made wines that feel rooted in where they come from.
