A Word From Our Founder

Hi everyone,

June’s Orange Club is all about curiosity and discovery. This month’s selection brings together four expressive skin-contact wines from across the globe, each offering its own interpretation of texture, freshness, and character.

From Oregon’s playful energy and Chile’s coastal influence to the historic traditions of Italy and Georgia, this lineup highlights just how diverse and exciting this category can be. While all four wines spend time on their skins, no two are alike. Some are bright and energetic, while others lean savory, textured, and layered, creating a collection that invites exploration with every bottle.

There’s an adventurous spirit running throughout the selection, but these wines remain approachable and incredibly food-friendly. They shine alongside summer vegetables, grilled seafood, cheeses, and meals meant to be shared slowly around the table.

A little extra time in the glass can go a long way with these wines. As they open, expect new aromas, shifting textures, and unexpected layers to emerge, rewarding a slower pace and a bit of attention.

As always, we’ve chosen producers who farm thoughtfully and work with a lighter touch in the cellar, allowing each wine to express its place, vintage, and personality as naturally as possible.

Thank you for being part of the club and for continuing to explore these wines with us.

Here’s to a June filled with adventurous pours, new discoveries, and bottles that challenge expectations in the best possible way.

Cheers,
Holly

Club Pick 1

A playful skin contact blend created in collaboration with chef Molly Baz and The Marigny. The Riesling, Pinot Gris, and Sauvignon Blanc each spend 9 to 21 days fermenting on their skins before aging primarily in stainless steel, with a small portion resting in neutral French oak. Bright, textured, and easy to drink, it balances juicy fruit with fresh acidity and gentle tannins.

"The Marigny is a small winery that’s big on fun. Our vineyards are managed sustainably and organically by a crew that you can count on your fingers. Each fall myself, and maybe one other person, take a year's worth of farming and process it without any additives or additions.
We believe great wines don’t have to be saved. So go ahead, open these while you’re cooking dinner, during the game or just because you feel like it. We’re here for ya when your day needs a little extra brightness and we care a lot about people having a good time.
Cheers,
Andy Young"

Club Pick 2

A skin contact Semillon from a tiny 0.3 hectare parcel of own rooted vines in Coelemu, near Chile's Pacific coast. The 40 plus year old vines grow on granitic soils and are harvested by hand before fermenting on their skins in stainless steel without temperature control. After fermentation, the wine rests for six months in stainless steel before bottling with minimal sulfur and without fining or filtration. Fresh and textured, it offers a focused expression of coastal Itata terroir.

Region: Itata Valley, Chile

Nacho, also known as Ignacio Pino Román, breaks the mold of your typical winemaker. In Chile's Itata Valley, he's on a mission to revive age-old traditions. Instead of relying on modern equipment and chemical shortcuts, Nacho champions the old ways. He roams Coelemu, collaborating with small growers who tend to their ancient vines naturally, without harsh chemicals. In his cellar, simplicity reigns supreme - stainless steel, clay, and neutral wood are the tools of his trade. With no unnecessary additives, Nacho's focus is on allowing the unique character of the Itata Valley and its grapes to shine through in every bottle of his "natural wine." It's a recipe for something truly special, don't you think?

Club Pick 3

An energetic skin contact Trebbiano from Abruzzo made with Lammidia's signature hands off approach. Organically farmed grapes ferment with native yeasts and spend time on their skins to build texture and depth while maintaining freshness. Bottled unfined, unfiltered, and with minimal intervention, it is vibrant, savory, and full of character.

Region: Abruzzo, Italy

Davide Gentile and Marco Giuliani, childhood friends from Abruzzo who lost touch after university, reunited with a shared passion for wine. Together, they embarked on a winemaking journey fueled by a deep appreciation for natural methods and bold experimentation. Unlike many, they eschewed formal wine education, agronomists, and oenologists, opting instead to learn through hands-on experience in vineyards and cellars. Their inaugural fermentation in 2010 was plagued by mishaps, prompting them to seek the intervention of an expert grandmother, known for her skill in dispelling the evil eye, to perform a ritual over their grapes. Miraculously, it proved successful, giving rise to Lammidia ("evil eye" in Abruzzese dialect), their venture into winemaking. - From Cream Wine

Club Pick 4

A skin contact white from Western Georgia that pays tribute to winemaker Ramaz Nikoladze's late friend and mentor, Soliko Tsaishvili. Organically farmed Tsolikouri grows on clay soils and spends five months macerating on its skins in traditional underground kvevri before resting in stainless steel. Structured yet fresh, it highlights the tea-like texture and vibrant energy that have made Ramaz one of the leading voices of modern Georgian natural wine.

Roasted vegetables, grilled fish, mushroom dishes, mezze, aged cheeses, herb-forward cuisine

Region: Imereti, Georgia

Ramaz Nikoladze farms 1.5 hectares of organically and biodynamically managed vineyards in the village of Nakhshirgele in western Georgia's Imereti region. Working with indigenous varieties such as Tsolikouri and Tsitska, he produces around 6,000 bottles annually using traditional underground kvevris alongside stainless steel, old oak, and glass demijohns. A pioneer of skin-contact winemaking in Imereti, Ramaz adapted techniques from eastern Georgia while developing his own gentler approach, fermenting with only a small portion of skins, seeds, and stems returned to the juice. His wines are hand-harvested, foot-pressed or gently pressed, unfined, unfiltered, and bottled without added sulfur, expressing the freshness, energy, and clay-rich soils of the region.
