About Scythian
Scythian Wine Co. is a new project from sommelier-turned-vigneron Raj Parr that highlights the nearly lost viticultural heritage of Los Angeles. Before prohibition, the city was the center of the California wine industry, producing highly regarded wines from varieties like Palomino, Mission, Garnacha Tintorera and Zinfandel planted on sandy soils. A few of these own-rooted, dry-farmed, vineyards endure, largely due to the stewardship of the Galleano family. With a few collaborators, Raj Parr started exploring, then rehabilitating, some of the most interesting plots of these vines in 2019. - Jose Pastor Selections

About Wightman
Adorning the Wightman & Sons logo, you will find a hand trowel — an homage to Andrew Wightman’s longtime experience as a builder. Also featured is a bush vine, representing Andrew’s latest venture operating a 24 hectare farm in the Swartland. The farm, called Môrelig, is a special place consisting of 7 different varietals, all organically farmed. The farm has also caught the attention of many Swartland producers, as Andrew’s fruit is highly sought after by the regions top winemaking talents for its quality and expression. While most of the fruit from the farm is sold (to the likes of Craig Hawkins, Eben Sadie, Jurgen Gouws to name a few), Andrew, along with his son Brandon, released their first own-labeled wines in 2015 and only produce around 900 cases per year. We are thrilled to bring these small production, exceptionally-valued, natural wines to the US.
