A Word From Our Founder

Hi friends,

March in the 6 club brings together a mix of wines that feel lively, expressive, and easy to enjoy across a range of moments. The selection moves between fresh whites, textured amber styles, and vibrant reds, creating a lineup that offers both variety and balance without feeling overwhelming.

Some bottles lean bright and refreshing, showing crisp fruit and clean energy in the glass. Others bring more texture or gentle structure, unfolding with layers of aromatics and subtle depth. The contrast keeps things interesting while still allowing the wines to feel naturally connected as a group.

These are bottles that adapt easily to the table. Some are perfect to open early in the evening while cooking or gathering with friends, while others feel right at home alongside a relaxed dinner. Together they offer flexibility and character, making it easy to find the right bottle for the moment.

As always, the wines come from producers who farm thoughtfully and approach winemaking with care and restraint. Their work allows the grapes and the places they come from to show clearly, resulting in wines that feel honest and full of life.

Thank you for continuing to explore these selections with us and for supporting growers who value authenticity and a strong connection to the land.

Here’s to a month of shared meals, curious pours, and plenty of memorable glasses.

Cheers,
Holly

Club Pick 1

A lively coastal red made from old vines in the Secano Interior of Itata Valley. The Cinsault vines are over 50 years old and the País vines exceed 120 years, planted on volcanic alluvial soils just 26 km from the Pacific Ocean. Grapes are hand-harvested and fermented on skins in plastic vats for four months before the free-run wine ages in old American oak. The result is a light, energetic red with freshness and aromatic lift.

Mingaco is a small family winery in the village of Checura in Chile’s Itata Valley, run by winemaker Pablo Pedreros and Daniela De Pablo. Pablo grew up making wine with his father and grandfather on the same land, continuing a long local tradition of small-scale farming and winemaking.

The vineyards include old, dry-farmed bush vines of Moscatel, País, and Cinsault, some more than 100 years old, planted on granitic soils with clay and quartz. Farming follows regenerative and biodynamic principles, with no synthetic fertilizers or herbicides.

Production is small, between 10,000 and 30,000 bottles annually. Through thoughtful farming and minimal intervention in the cellar, Mingaco focuses on expressive wines that reflect the history, landscape, and traditions of the Itata Valley.

Club Pick 2

A bright, approachable Bordeaux made from organically farmed Merlot grown on clay and limestone soils overlooking the Garonne River. Grapes are hand-harvested and fermented separately by parcel after a short cool maceration for gentle extraction. The wine ages in concrete tanks for eight to ten months before bottling without systematic filtration, resulting in a supple and fruit-forward expression of Merlot.

Château Tire Pé is a small family estate in the Gironde-sur-Dropt area of Bordeaux, run by David and Hélène Barrault since 1997. The vineyards sit on clay and limestone soils with southern exposure overlooking the Garonne River, providing excellent conditions for balanced, expressive wines.

The Barraults farm their vines organically, a practice they adopted in 2008 and officially began converting under Ecocert in 2011. In the cellar, the focus is on gentle extraction and minimal intervention to highlight the supple fruit and terroir that define classic Bordeaux wines.

Club Pick 3

A fresh and elegant Grenache from the organically farmed Hongell Vineyard near Tanunda. The old vines grow on Biscay clay soils and are hand-harvested before fermenting with native yeasts, including a portion of whole clusters. The wine macerates for three weeks and ages in neutral French puncheons for nine months, resulting in a bright yet structured Grenache that highlights purity and balance.

Poppelvej is the project of Danish brothers Jens and Uffe Deichmann. The name means “street of poplars,” referencing the street where they grew up in Denmark, and the original hand-painted sign from their great-great-grandfather now hangs in the winery.

Uffe moved to South Australia for a harvest and ended up staying after meeting his future wife, Nicole. The couple eventually settled in McLaren Vale, where Poppelvej was founded in 2016.

The wines are made from sustainably farmed vineyards in McLaren Vale and Adelaide Hills. Fermentations are low intervention with minimal additions, and the wines are typically bottled without fining or filtration. Production is small, around 4,000 cases annually, and the wines reflect both the creativity of their makers and the character of the region.

Club Pick 5

A traditional Georgian amber wine made from the indigenous Khikhvi grape in the village of Tibaani in Kakheti. Whole clusters are gently crushed and macerated on skins and stems for six months before being transferred to qvevri for another year of aging underground. Practicing organic farming and minimal intervention in the cellar allow the wine to express the ancient winemaking traditions and distinctive terroir of Georgia.

Pheasant’s Tears was founded in 2007 by American artist and winemaker John Wurdeman and Georgian farmer Gela Patalishvili in the village of Tibaani in Kakheti. Their work focuses on reviving Georgia’s ancient winemaking traditions and preserving the country’s vast diversity of indigenous grape varieties.

The winery farms organically across several vineyard sites in Georgia and works with native grapes such as Rkatsiteli, Saperavi, and many lesser-known varieties. Most wines are fermented and aged in traditional qvevri, clay vessels buried underground, following techniques that date back thousands of years.

With minimal intervention in both vineyard and cellar, Pheasant’s Tears produces wines that reflect Georgia’s deep winemaking heritage and the unique character of its landscapes.
