A Word From Our Founder

Hi friends,

April in the red club shifts toward a lighter, more lifted expression of red wine. This month’s selection focuses on clarity and flow, with wines that feel energetic, nuanced, and easy to spend time with.

Across the lineup, you’ll find a mix of styles that play with freshness and texture. Some bottles are bright and juicy with a vibrant core of red fruit, while others take a more delicate approach, showing subtle earth, soft spice, and a gentle structure that builds quietly. The overall feel is open and flexible, with each wine offering something slightly different.

These are bottles that suit a range of moments. A glass poured while dinner comes together, something to share casually, or a wine that unfolds gradually as it sits in the glass. They invite a slower pace without feeling serious or heavy.

The growers behind these wines work with intention in both vineyard and cellar, prioritizing balance and a light touch. The result is wines that feel transparent, expressive, and closely tied to where they come from.

Thank you for being part of the club and for continuing to explore with us.

Here’s to a month of lifted reds, relaxed evenings, and wines that keep evolving.

Cheers,
Holly

A varietal Cabernet Franc from the Sentio organic estate in Pécsely, grown on limestone and sandstone soils. Grapes are hand-harvested and gently destemmed into open fermentors, with partial semi-carbonic maceration. After 10 days, the wine is pressed and aged for 11 months in large oak barrels. Bottled with nothing added, it shows a pure and expressive style.

Kolónia 52 is a small, biodynamic estate on Hungary’s Szent György-hegy, led by Annamária Török and Attila Francisti. Farming 3 ha of volcanic basalt soils, they craft low-intervention wines from Pinot Noir, Kékfrankos, Welschriesling and native grapes. Manual harvest, native ferments, no sulfur, and gravity-led élevage in neutral oak and amphora define their pure, expressive style.

A chillable red blending Pinot Noir from Finnigan Hill in the Chehalem Mountains with Mourvèdre from Yakima Valley. Both sites are farmed organically, bringing freshness and clarity to the fruit. Joe Swick is a 5th generation Oregonian winemaker who captures the true taste of the Pacific Northwest through his wines. Joe sources his grapes from organic, biodynamic and sustainable vineyards in Oregon and Washington. After years of traveling and harvesting in various pockets of the world, such as Piedmont, Portugal, and Tasmania, Joe returned to Oregon to start his very own label in 2013. He embraces the minimal approach when making his wines such as using native yeasts, aging in old barrels and adding minimal sulphur during bottling—only when absolutely necessary. While Joe started out with a focus on making Oregon Pinot Noir, he now has explored many other grape varietals and experiments with different techniques during élevage.
