A Word From Our Founder

Hi friends,

This month's 6 Club brings together a playful mix of reds, whites, and skin-contact bottles from independent producers. It's a collection full of variety, with each bottle offering a different expression of natural wine and plenty of personality.

From the bright, juicy character of Grenache to the fresh, crisp profile of Grüner Veltliner and the textured Touch Me Skin Contact Verdelho, there's a little bit of everything to keep things interesting. Cuvée Carbonic and the other selections add even more range, making this a fun lineup to explore from bottle to bottle.

Whether you're planning a casual dinner, bringing something along to share, or simply opening a bottle after a long day, we hope this month's selection gives you plenty of reasons to pour, taste, and discover.

Thank you for continuing to explore with us and for supporting the independent growers behind these bottles.

Cheers,

Holly

Poppelvej is the project of Danish brothers Jens and Uffe Deichmann. The name means “street of poplars,” referencing the street where they grew up in Denmark, and the original hand-painted sign from their great-great-grandfather now hangs in the winery.

Uffe moved to South Australia for a harvest and ended up staying after meeting his future wife, Nicole. The couple eventually settled in McLaren Vale, where Poppelvej was founded in 2016.

The wines are made from sustainably farmed vineyards in McLaren Vale and Adelaide Hills. Fermentations are low intervention with minimal additions, and the wines are typically bottled without fining or filtration. Production is small, around 4,000 cases annually, and the wines reflect both the creativity of their makers and the character of the region.

Club Pick 2

A chillable red blending Pinot Noir from Finnigan Hill in the Chehalem Mountains with Mourvèdre from Yakima Valley. Both sites are farmed organically, bringing freshness and clarity to the fruit. Hand-harvested grapes undergo whole-cluster, semi-carbonic maceration for one to two weeks, followed by spontaneous fermentation. The wine is finished with minimal sulfur and no other additions, keeping the profile bright, lifted, and easygoing.

Region: Oregon,

Joe Swick is a 5th generation Oregonian winemaker who captures the true taste of the Pacific Northwest through his wines. Joe sources his grapes from organic, biodynamic and sustainable vineyards in Oregon and Washington. After years of traveling and harvesting in various pockets of the world, such as Piedmont, Portugal, and Tasmania, Joe returned to Oregon to start his very own label in 2013. He embraces the minimal approach when making his wines such as using native yeasts, aging in old barrels and adding minimal sulphur during bottling—only when absolutely necessary. While Joe started out with a focus on making Oregon Pinot Noir, he now has explored many other grape varietals and experiments with different techniques during élevage.

Club Pick 3

A carbonic Pinot Noir from the certified organic Palmiet Vineyard, planted on Koue Bokkeveld shale at 1,000 feet. Whole clusters undergo 14 days of native fermentation in sealed one-ton fermenters, then age for 12 months in a 25hL concrete egg with full lees. Bottled directly from the egg with a small addition of sulfur, without fining or filtration.

Frug is an exciting new addition to Jenny & Francois' lineup, featuring wines from an exclusive collaboration with carefully selected winemakers. These Austrian wines are not only kind to both nature and your budget but also come in a friendly 1-liter bottle, a nod to Central-European tradition for everyday drinking wines. The Wurzinger winery, located in the south-eastern part of Burgenland near the border with Hungary, was established by Josef's grandfather and taken over by Josef himself in 1991. He gradually transitioned the vineyard management to organic practices, obtaining certification in 2014.

In Croatia's Moslavina, a charming family estate called Voštinić — Klasnić has been championing a nearly forgotten grape: Škrlet. Their story began in 1936 when Tomislav's great-grandfather planted the first Škrlet vines, some of which still stand today. Now, Tomislav, aka the "Young Prince of Škrlet," leads the charge.

What makes them special? It's all about their unwavering dedication to Škrlet. They practice organic farming, prioritizing healthy vines over certifications. Their modern touch on a traditional cellar allows them to craft a variety of Škrlet styles – from light and aromatic to skin-contact and even sparkling! Each sip is a testament to their passion for reviving this unique grape and sharing its hidden potential with the world.
