A Word From Our Founder

Hey there,

This month’s club box is a journey in a dozen sips. Reds, whites, rosés, and oranges — each one with its own personality, ready to surprise you.

Inside, you’ll find:
🍷 Reds that are bold, layered, and impossible to ignore
🍊 Oranges that sparkle with texture and intrigue
🌿 Whites that refresh and invite another sip
🌸 Rosés that dance lightly on the palate

Twelve bottles. Twelve stories. One box. Open it, pour, and discover something new with every glass.

With warmth (and a full glass),
— Holly

Club Pick 2

The 2024 Syrah from Banele Vakele’s Tembela label is his most powerful and structured vintage to date. Sourced primarily from the renowned Karibib Vineyard in the Polkadraai Hills—with a smaller portion from Jakkalsfontein in the Swartland—this wine showcases South Africa's top Syrah terroir. Fermented with 80% whole bunches and aged in old 500L oak, it’s a vibrant, detailed red with both tension and depth. A wine rooted in community, place, and personal heritage.

Charred lamb chops, mushroom ragu, grilled eggplant, black pepper steak, aged gouda.

Cracked black pepper, violets, wild herbs, and blackberry. The palate is bright, mid-weight, and taut, with fine-grained tannins and savory stem spice on the finish.

Tembela Wines was founded by Banele Vakele, one of South Africa’s most inspiring new-generation winemakers. His story began in Khayelitsha, a township outside Cape Town, where a childhood daydream gazing out at vineyards during school sparked his passion for wine.

After earning a scholarship to a top school in Constantia, Banele’s curiosity eventually led him to study winemaking and work alongside some of South Africa’s finest, including Duncan Savage at Savage Wines in Salt River, where he continues to craft his wines.

Club Pick 3

From 100% organic grapes that are fermented for 3 to 4 weeks with a slow increase of temp to create a very elegant tannic structure. Full of fresh ripe fruit with a smooth long finish.

Anne Pichon and her late husband, Marc Pichon, embarked on an agrarian-bohemian life in the 1990s when they settled in an abandoned farmhouse at the base of Mont Ventoux. They began reviving the defunct domaine called Murmurium, meaning “the buzzing song of bees.” Although the 15-hectare vineyard was in poor condition, it had been organically managed for many years prior to Anne and Marc’s stewardship. Today, Anne, along with her sister-in-law Véronique managing the commercial affairs, produces no more than 40 barrels of wine for T. Edward. The wines, named “Sauvage,” reflect the Pichons’ reverence for nature.

Anne Pichon’s vineyard benefits from a dry micro-climate with cool, manually tilled soils that retain moisture after rainfall.

Club Pick 4

A creative, joyful “after-glow” blend capturing the limestone Neuberg terroir—from both red and white grapes, co-fermented with native yeasts, bottled unfined, unfiltered, and with zero added sulfur.

Baked cod, chickpea-tomato stew, seafood, light salads, soft cheeses.

Hazy, ginger-rosé hue; flavors of crushed red berries, sea salt, subtle smoky minerality; vibrant, light-bodied, refreshing.

Alexander and Maria Koppitsch began making wine in Burgenland in 2011. They took over their parents 5.5-hectare winery and moved from selling their grapes into making their own wine. The vineyards are in the Neusiedl am See, a small village situated at the shores of the Neusidl Lake and on the eastern end of the Leitha Mountains which feature soft, rolling hills of mostly limestone soil. Like his father and grandfather before him, Alex does not believe in introducing any additives into the grapes or the wine. They use Rudolf Steiner’s biodynamic principles to cultivate their grapes, and pride themselves on performing every aspect of the vineyard management and the winemaking by hand, on a very small scale. - Jenny & Francois

They make crisp whites and bold reds using traditional methods with a modern twist. Plus, you can explore the historic abbey, learn about winemaking, or grab a yummy bite to eat. It's the perfect spot to relax and soak up some Italian charm.

Club Pick 6

Storm Point 2023 is a vibrant, medium-bodied red blend from South Africa’s Swartland region, made from sustainably farmed Syrah, Cinsaut, and Carignan. The wine is fermented with native yeast, aged in a mix of stainless steel and neutral oak, and bottled with minimal intervention. It’s a fresh, expressive take on Rhône varieties, shaped by the region’s rugged terrain and cooling coastal influence.

Crafted in South Africa’s Swartland region, these wines embody patience, balance, and a deep sense of place—showcasing the energy and potential of the country’s new-wave winemaking.

Club Pick 7

A skin-contact Chenin Blanc from one of South Africa’s most exciting winemakers, Reenen Borman. Kottabos is a small side project focused on experimental, site-driven wines, and this release comes entirely from the Karibib Vineyard in the Polkadraai Hills. Whole-bunch fermented with 4–5 days of skin contact, then aged in old French puncheon for 11 months. The result is a textured, clean, and lifted Chenin with subtle grip and energy to spare.

Tagine with apricots, grilled halloumi, roasted root vegetables, miso-glazed cod, aged Manchego.

Golden citrus, hay, honey, chamomile, and pickled ginger. Silky texture with light tannin and bright acidity. A clean finish with mineral edge and spice.

Club Pick 8

From 62-year-old dry-farmed bush vines in the foothills of South Africa’s Piketberg Mountain, Keep on Punching is Testalonga’s fresh yet layered take on Chenin Blanc. Fermented with native yeast in old oak and stainless steel, this wine is made with minimal intervention and maximum personality. Light on its feet but with real depth, it’s a go-to bottle for everyday drinking that punches well above its weight.

Craig & Carla Hawkins are the proud owners of TESTALONGA, a venture that took root in 2008 with the inception of their inaugural wine, a Skin Macerated Chenin Blanc. Operating from rented 11 hectares of organically cultivated vineyards nestled within the granite soils of the Paardeberg, along with an additional 4 hectares situated on the Sandstone soils of the Piketberg, TESTALONGA remains deeply rooted in its commitment to natural winemaking practices. In 2015, the acquisition of Bandits Kloof farm in the slate-rich northern mountains of the Swartland marked a significant milestone. Here, the couple embarked on a new journey, focusing on cultivating Mediterranean grape varieties, with the first vineyards planted in 2018.

Club Pick 9

A zippy, dry white blend of Riesling and Pinot Gris from high-elevation vines in Victoria’s King Valley. Inspired by Alsatian field blends but made with Aussie attitude, Pan Opticon is all about brightness, texture, and drinkability. No skin contact, no frills — just a cold, clean ferment in stainless steel and bottled unfined and unfiltered. Wild, fresh, and made for the curious.

"We were frustrated by the high prices of interesting wines—the ones we wanted to drink but couldn’t afford on our modest incomes. So, we decided to create wines with minimal intervention and maximum care—wines you could enjoy with a bowl of spaghetti on a Wednesday night without breaking the bank. Thus, the Konpira Maru mission was born: make mid-week wines great again. Our aim is to produce wines full of character, focusing on affordability and high drinkability. Wines that are so reasonably priced that you don’t feel the need to discuss them throughout the meal—you can simply enjoy the company you're with and maybe even open another bottle!”— Konpira Maru Wine Company
