A Word From Our Founder

Hi friends,

May in the Red Club brings a lineup with freshness, lift, and plenty of character. This month’s selection leans into reds that feel energetic and expressive, with a balance of bright fruit, gentle structure, and a sense of ease at the table.

The wines offer a range of moods without feeling heavy. Some bring juicy, immediate fruit and a lively pulse, while others show more depth, structure, and savory detail. Together, they create a selection that feels generous, balanced, and ready for the season.

These are reds that can move easily through the day. A slight chill can bring out their freshness, making them perfect for late afternoon pours, casual dinners, or shared bottles around a table. They have enough presence to hold attention, but remain relaxed and approachable.

As always, the focus is on wines made with care, from producers who value thoughtful farming, honest expression, and a lighter touch in the cellar. The result is a group of reds that feels vibrant, grounded, and full of personality.

Thank you for being part of the club and for continuing to explore these wines with us.

Here’s to a May filled with bright reds, shared meals, and bottles that bring energy to the table.

Cheers,
Holly

Club Pick 1

An organic red from Roussillon made with Grenache Noir and Mourvèdre grown on clay and stone soils. The fruit is hand-harvested and co-fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel, with whole-bunch Mourvèdre layered under destemmed Grenache. After a short maceration, the wine finishes fermentation in tank and rests for 6 months on fine lees in stainless steel and fiberglass. Bottled unfined and unfiltered with low sulfur, it is juicy, earthy, and fresh, with soft structure and a stony finish.

With 15 hectares of organically farmed vineyards (yes, that’s right — zero shortcuts, just sunshine, soil, and a lot of care), they bottle up the purest expression of the Languedoc spirit. This isn’t just a family-run estate — it’s a full-blown labor of love, turning out around 250,000 bottles a year, split between their Domaine line (the heart and soul) and their négociant wines (their creative, free-spirited side hustle).

What you’ll taste? Sunshine. Effort. Joy. Maybe even a little rebellion. These wines are for people who like their stories real, their land respected, and their glasses never empty.

From our friends in Nizas, with love — and a lot of really, really good wine.

Clotaire Michal has wine in his veins. From his early days swirling glasses as a sommelier in top spots across France and the UK, to a five-year deep-dive under legendary winemakers like Christophe Peyrus and the iconic Thierry Allemand in the Rhône, Clotaire didn’t just learn winemaking — he lived it. In 2013, he and his wife Yuka (who officially joined the Domaine in 2018) took a leap of faith and built something rare: a soulful, old-vine haven in Saint-Étienne-la-Varenne, where pink granite and 100-year-old Gamay vines tell a story you can taste in every glass. No chemicals, no shortcuts, no trendy “glouglou” vibes here.
