The Cirelli family winery has been producing Abruzzo wines in Pescara, Italy for over a century. They're known for their dedication to natural winemaking practices, using indigenous grapes and minimal intervention to create wines that truly reflect their unique terroir. Their Orange Cirelli, made from Trebbiano grapes with skin contact, is a perfect example of their innovative approach. It's a delightful departure from the typical Pinot Grigio, offering a burst of citrus flavors with a touch of sunshine in every sip.

Club Pick 2

This sparkling Sauvignon Blanc & Muscat Ottonel blend tickles your nose with playful bubbles, carrying vibrant flavors of citrus and tropical fruits that practically leap from the glass. Delicate floral notes of honeysuckle add a touch of elegance, while the light-bodied wine dances on your tongue with crisp acidity. The sweetness of the Muscat Ottonel weaves a perfect balance, leaving you with a clean, zesty finish that begs for another sip!

Proyecto Nakkal is a Uruguayan winery with a twist. Run by childhood friends Santi Degásperi and Nico Monforte, these guys are all about letting the grapes shine. Inspired by the ancient guardians of Atlantis, the Nakkals, who believed in minimal intervention, Santi and Nico craft natural wines that are pure Uruguay. Their vineyards bask in the cool climate and steady rainfall near the Río de la Plata, resulting in wines that are light-bodied, fresh, and bursting with acidity. They farm sustainably too, keeping the land and the ecosystem happy.

Club Pick 3

An elegant and complex white with a touch of wood gives it a lovely spiciness, florals, and tropical fruits.

Region: Somló, Hungary

Krisztina Csetvei was born near Szabadka in 1983 (Subotica, a Hungarian speaking town in Serbia) before moving to Budapest with her family when she was a child. Krisztina studied marketing and management at the Technical University in Hungary, and in 2006 as a practical training period she worked for the then brand new Béres Winery in Tokaj. She received a WSET course voucher for Christmas from the Béres family, which she took and passed – and that was it. She fell in love with wines, started systematic tasting and became more conscious of food and wine pairing. After a 3-year detour in the marketing department of a huge corporation and postgraduate stint at university she had a ’coincidental’ encounter with a friend of her father’s, László Bóni, owner of DiBonis Winery in Serbia. After tasting his spirits and wines that familiar feeling of love of the world of wine came back. The dreams and plans were followed by action and in 2011 Csetvei Cellar was born with the renovation of an old, traditional wine cellar in the town of Mór. Now over 7 harvests in, she is married and has recently given birth to a daughter. Her creative mind (or marketing in the most positive sense) is present in the life of the winery, in naming the wines, in wine tourism programmes, and in her mission to make Mór a greatly respected wine region. She has recently created a kind of periodic chart of chemical elements, though instead of chemical elements the grape varieties of Mór’s wine region are listed in the chart. She and her husband organize unforgettable events in the cellar and in their wonderfully beautiful vineyard, complete with music, movies, great food, and of course the carefully made, artisan wines of Csetvei Cellar.

Club Pick 4

Absolutely stunning orange wine from Riesling. 4 weeks of skin contact and aged under flor creates lovely rich notes with great acidity and a bit of tannin.

Region: Rheinhessen, Germany

If Rheinhessen is at the epicenter of a new wave in German winemaking—one full of young energy that emphasizes high-quality, natural methods—then husband and wife Daniel and Bianka Schmitt are at the epicenter of Rheinhessen. Rheinhessen is the largest wine growing region in Germany, and has been largely associated with bulk production. However, in recent years, the region’s reputation has begun to shift as a new generation of younger, more innovative growers are reducing yields and honing in on the largely undervalued terroir of this region. Bianka and Daniel epitomize this new wave of German winemakers, working hard to produce wines of the highest quality with as little intervention as possible.
