Hawke's Bay

Hawke's Bay, situated on the eastern coast of New Zealand's North Island, produces natural wines that embody the region's diverse terroir and innovative winemaking spirit. Blessed with a maritime-influenced climate and a range of soil types, including gravelly river terraces and limestone-rich hillsides, Hawke's Bay offers ideal conditions for grape cultivation. Here, winemakers embrace sustainable practices and minimal intervention in the cellar, allowing the true expression of the fruit to shine through. Indigenous grape varieties such as Syrah, Chardonnay, and Merlot thrive in this unique environment, yielding wines of exceptional quality and complexity. From elegant and aromatic whites to bold and expressive reds, Hawke's Bay's natural wines capture the essence of the region's vibrant landscapes and pioneering winemaking ethos, inviting drinkers to experience the pure, unadulterated flavors of New Zealand with each sip.

Rob Burley's journey into winemaking began with his fascination for scents and flavors, initially considering a career in perfumery before pivoting to wine. Alongside his wife Kate, they embarked on a global adventure that eventually led them back to their homeland, New Zealand. After studying winemaking in Australia, Rob worked for large wineries, which initially dampened his passion until he discovered the wines of Saša Radikon and Jean-Francois Ganevat. This reignited his enthusiasm, prompting the couple to travel through Eastern Europe and assist with harvests in the Loire Valley before landing at Terroirs, a natural wine hotspot in London.
