About Weingut Schlossmuhlenhof

The Schloss Mühlenhof estate, a vast 20-hectare property on the slopes above Kettenheim, is steeped in history and tradition. Established in 1846, it has flourished under six generations of the Michel family. Initially a rye and wheat mill, the estate shifted its focus to viticulture in the 1920s, transforming the small attached vineyard into the family's primary source of income. Although the original vines have been replaced over time, some are still as old as 45 years.

Currently managed by Gabriele, Nicolas, and Walter Michel, the farm practices what they term 'ecologically healthy' farming. While not certified organic, their methods aim to capture the fruity expression characteristic of the Rheinhessen style.

About the Region

Rheinhessen, Germany

Calling all wine lovers! Rheinhessen, Germany's biggest wine region, is like a fun, chilled-out party compared to other fancy wine areas. Here, rolling hillsides soaked with sunshine grow a dizzying variety of grapes, mainly white. Think refreshing Rieslings, crisp Silvaners, and even some playful newcomers. Don't be surprised if you hear about a Scheurebe or two – they were invented right here by a pioneering professor! Rheinhessen is all about experimentation and easy-drinking wines that'll make you want to linger under the summer sun with a glass in hand.
