The Producer

About Mataro

The Suriol family has been farming at Castell de Grabuac since the 1600s, combining generations of Catalan winemaking tradition with organic and biodynamic farming. Their 30-hectare estate is certified organic and planted with native varieties including Xarel-lo, Macabeo, Parellada, Garnacha, Monastrell, and Tempranillo.

Their wines are made with spontaneous fermentation and minimal intervention, using stainless steel, concrete, and locally made clay amphorae. Wines are unfined and unfiltered, with little to no added SO₂.

The family produces both estate wines under the Suriol name and more playful, approachable wines under Azimut, made with organic grapes from their vineyards and neighboring growers.
