Winifred Rosé 2023 is a charming and refreshing rosé made from Blaufränkisch and Zweigelt grapes grown on 35-year-old vines in gravelly soils. Hand-harvested and destemmed, the grapes are specifically grown for rosé, ensuring a unique and focused wine. Fermentation takes place in used barrels of varying sizes, followed by 8 months of élevage in 500-liter barrels with no batonnage. The wine is bottled unfined, unfiltered, and with zero added sulfur, preserving its pure and natural character. Winifred may seem shy at first, but her lively personality and bright, refreshing qualities make her unforgettable. Fun Fact: The vineyard used for Winifred Rosé is dedicated entirely to making this rosé, rather than being a byproduct of red wine production (no saignée method). This dedication results in a wine that is specifically crafted to express the delicate and nuanced flavors of the Blaufränkisch and Zweigelt grapes.

About Gut Oggau

Gut Oggau, nestled in Oggau, Austria, emerged from the vision of Eduard and Stephanie Tscheppe in 2007. With Eduard's background in conventional winemaking and Stephanie's heritage rooted in the Michelin-starred restaurant Taubenkobel, they embarked on a journey to restore a 17th-century winery abandoned for two decades. The fortuitous neglect of the vines allowed for a seamless transition to biodynamic practices upon their revival, leading to full Demeter certification. Each wine's vibrant personality inspired the creation of a familial lineup, with names and labels representing different family members, thanks to artist Jung von Matt. From the lively children to the robust parents and wise grandparents, each bottle tells a tale of terroir and tradition.
