Sourced from the Paradiso Vineyard in La Morra, this Barbera highlights the grape's freshness and vibrant character. Organically farmed vines grow in calcareous clay soils before the fruit is fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel and macerated on the skins for seven days. Aged in used French oak followed by stainless steel, then bottled unfined and unfiltered with minimal sulfur, the wine balances bright acidity with pure fruit and gentle structure.

Black cherry, plum, blackberry, violet, baking spice, fresh herbs, lively acidity, fine tannins

The Producer

About Ellena Giuseppe

Tucked in the heart of La Morra, Agricola Ellena Giuseppe is where tradition meets innovation. This family-run estate spans 15 hectares, with 5 under vine and 8 growing hazelnuts. Once suppliers to local co-ops, the Ellenas started bottling their own wines in 2009, led by Matteo Ellena, who brought expertise from working with legendary producers like Elio Altare. Now practicing organic viticulture and crafting wines with minimal intervention, the family focuses on vibrant, honest expressions of their land. Their Barolo offers stunning value, blending classic structure with a fresh, natural approach. Perfect for both collectors and everyday wine lovers.

About the Region

Langhe, Italy

The Langhe region, nestled in the Piedmont region of northern Italy, is renowned for its picturesque landscapes, rolling hills, and prestigious wines. In recent years, the area has also become a hub for natural winemaking. With its diverse terroir, including limestone and clay soils, and a continental climate, Langhe offers an ideal environment for sustainable viticulture. Natural winemakers in the region prioritize organic and biodynamic farming methods, cultivating indigenous grape varieties such as Nebbiolo, Barbera, and Dolcetto with minimal intervention. By eschewing chemical additives and focusing on natural fermentation, they produce wines that express the true essence of the land. Langhe's natural wines are known for their elegance, complexity, and sense of place, with Nebbiolo-based wines offering delicate floral aromatics, firm tannins, and red fruit flavors, while Barbera and Dolcetto wines showcase bright acidity and ripe fruit characteristics. As the demand for authentic and terroir-driven wines continues to grow, Langhe remains a benchmark for quality and innovation in the world of natural winemaking.
