A fresh, grounded Syrah from stony, high-terrace vineyards in Roussillon, farmed organically and worked by hand. Fruit comes from 30-year-old vines on north-facing slopes, fermented with whole bunches for ten days to keep energy and lift. Aged seven months in neutral oak, bottled unfined and unfiltered with very low sulfur, the wine stays focused on purity, spice, and balance rather than weight.

Black cherry, blackcurrant, cracked pepper, dark spice, fresh acidity, supple texture

About Domaine de Mena

De Mena, meaning "By Nature" in Catalan, is a passion project of Sébastien Agelet, located in the small, time-forgotten village of Paziols, nestled in the Pyrenees Mountains. Once part of the Principality of Catalonia, Paziols still holds a medieval charm. Sébastien, a visionary vigneron, transitioned his family’s old vines to organic farming, pulling them away from the co-op to create wines that reflect nature’s purity and authenticity. De Mena’s wines are naturally crafted with minimal intervention, showcasing the terroir and embracing a philosophy rooted in passion. Sébastien’s wines are known for being thought-provoking, purposeful, and utterly delicious, with an emphasis on organic, traditional winemaking methods.

About the Region

Roussillon, France

In the rugged landscapes of Roussillon, natural winemaking is a testament to the region's wild beauty and rich viticultural heritage. Tucked away in the southeastern corner of France, bordering Spain and the Mediterranean Sea, Roussillon boasts a diverse terroir of rocky hillsides, sun-drenched plains, and coastal breezes. Here, amidst ancient vineyards, winemakers embrace organic and biodynamic farming practices, cultivating indigenous grape varieties such as Grenache Noir, Carignan, and Mourvèdre with care and respect for the land. In the cellar, minimal intervention is the guiding principle, with spontaneous fermentations and aging in neutral vessels allowing the true expression of the grapes and terroir to shine through. The resulting natural wines from Roussillon are a reflection of the region's rugged beauty, with their bold flavors, intense aromas, and a sense of place that captures the spirit of this enchanting corner of France.
