Orange wines from Dario Prinčič are known as the crème de la crème. And his Bianco Trebež is arguably at the top of that vaunted category. It's a wine full of harmonious contradictions, destined to inspire passionate arguments and even more passionate reconciliations. This sees an eight-day maceration of Pinot Grigio, and an 18-day maceration of Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, all blended up and aged for 20 months before being unleashed on the unsuspecting public. Savory and wild, a wine for the history books.

The Producer

About Dario Prinčič

Nestled in the picturesque village of Vrhpolje within the Vipava Valley, Vina Krapež wine estate boasts a rich heritage dating back to 1928 when Grandpa Jožef Krapež purchased the "Pr’potokovo" farm and laid the foundation for a family legacy in viticulture and winemaking. Influenced by the sub-Mediterranean climate characterized by the interplay of warm, moist southwest winds and cold northeast breezes, the valley's terroir of flysch and marl deposits nurtures exceptional vineyards. Over the years, successive generations, including Jožef Jr. and later his son Martin, have dedicated themselves to cultivating vines and crafting wines that reflect the essence of their land.

About the Region

Friuli Venezia Giulia, Italy

Friuli Venezia Giulia, located in the northeastern corner of Italy, is renowned for its stunning landscapes and rich winemaking tradition. In recent years, the region has also become a hub for natural winemaking. With its diverse terroir, including mountains, hills, and coastal plains, Friuli offers an ideal environment for sustainable viticulture. Natural winemakers here prioritize organic and biodynamic farming methods, cultivating indigenous grape varieties such as Friulano, Ribolla Gialla, and Malvasia Istriana with minimal intervention. By eschewing chemical additives and relying on natural fermentation, they produce wines that express the unique character of the land. Friuli's natural wines are known for their elegance, complexity, and vibrant acidity, with whites offering crisp citrus and mineral notes, and reds showcasing bright fruit flavors and silky textures. As the demand for authentic and terroir-driven wines continues to grow, Friuli Venezia Giulia remains a leader in the natural wine movement, offering a taste of Italy's rich cultural heritage and winemaking traditions with each bottle.
