Battista Belvisi's journey in winemaking began at a young age on Pantelleria, where he learned traditional techniques from his father and grandfather. Despite studying agriculture in Palermo and meeting his wife Pina there, he returned to Pantelleria upon his father's encouragement, eschewing the typical exodus from the island. After honing his skills at Abraxas and collaborating with Gabrio Bini at Seragghia winery, he founded Abbazia San Giorgio in 2015. Belvisi's winemaking ethos centers on crafting natural, low-intervention wines reflective of his style and convictions. While eschewing formal organic or biodynamic certifications, he employs organic farming practices and integrates biodynamic techniques to accentuate the terroir's essence and the fruit's character in his wines.
