Producer Profile

Radikon

The Radikon winery is situated in Oslavia, spanning from the bridge on the Isonzo river near Gorizia to San Floriano hill. With approximately eighteen hectares of vineyards adjacent to the winery, the land's steep slopes demand laborious care but offer exceptional quality. The soil, primarily composed of eocene marls, provides optimal conditions for viticulture. Since 1980, the winery has been managed by Stanislao (Stanko) Radikon, his wife Suzana, and their son, Saša. Committed to natural winemaking, they prioritize soil and environmental respect, eschewing chemical additives and minimizing treatments since 1995. Their vineyards yield low quantities, with grapes hand-harvested at peak ripeness.

Where The Wines Come From

Friuli-Venezia Giulia

Friuli-Venezia Giulia, nestled in the northeastern corner of Italy, is renowned for its stunning landscapes and rich winemaking tradition. In recent years, the region has also become a hub for natural winemaking. With its diverse terroir, including mountains, hills, and coastal plains, Friuli-Venezia Giulia provides an ideal environment for sustainable viticulture. Natural winemakers here prioritize organic and biodynamic farming methods, cultivating indigenous grape varieties such as Friulano, Ribolla Gialla, and Malvasia Istriana with minimal intervention. By eschewing chemical additives and relying on natural fermentation, they produce wines that express the unique character of the land. Friuli-Venezia Giulia's natural wines are known for their elegance, complexity, and vibrant acidity, with whites offering crisp citrus and mineral notes, and reds showcasing bright fruit flavors and silky textures. As the demand for authentic and terroir-driven wines continues to grow, Friuli-Venezia Giulia remains a leader in the natural wine movement, offering a taste of Italy's rich cultural heritage and winemaking traditions with each bottle.
