Club Pick 1

Cardedu ‘Bucce’ Bianco is a vibrant and drinkable orange wine crafted by 4th generation Sardinian producer Sergio Loi. The wine is made from Vermentino, Cannonau, and Nasco grapes grown on crumbling granite soils with high levels of quartz, giving the soil a distinctive reddish tint. The Vermentino and Nasco are fermented on the skins for 2 nights, while the Cannonau is quickly pressed after a few hours on the skins. The wine is then aged in cavernous cement tanks for a minimum of 6 months, resulting in a wine with bright acidity, layers of coastal herbs, and a savory finish. Bottled unfined and unfiltered, it’s a true expression of Sardinian terroir.
Fun Fact: The name "Bucce" means "skins" in Italian, reflecting the wine's skin-contact method of production. This technique, combined with the unique terroir of Sardegna, imparts the wine with its distinct flavors and deep connection to the Mediterranean landscape.

"Sergio Loi is a 4th generation traditional Sardinian producer, whose family winery from the early 900s has always practiced no chemical farming and minimum intervention in the cellar. The Cardedu [car-DAY-do] vineyards are located on the island’s sparsely populated Southeast, where soils are crumbling granite near the coast, and schist in ragged-dry cliffs around Jerzu. - Portovino"

Les Vins Pirouettes is a project launched by Christian Binner, that brings affordable natural wines to the table, and at the same time helps organic and biodynamic grape growers in Alsace move away from selling their grapes to cooperatives towards making and bottling natural wines. Each cuvée is made at a young grower’s winery, where they supply the grapes and Christian supplies his 20 years of expertise in making natural wine in Alsace, and of course his marketing and distribution savviness. Each cuvée will feature the name of the grower on the bottle. - Jenny & Francois

Matteo Furlani produces exceptional wines under two notable brands—Cantina Furlani and Mae Son. Cantina Furlani specializes in spumante wines, reflecting Matteo's expertise in crafting effervescent delights. Meanwhile, the Mae Son label, a collaboration with export manager Claudio Coronato and Jenny and Francois Selections, celebrates family significance and meticulous winemaking.

Matteo's meticulous winemaking process shines in his Muller Thurgau wine. Hand-harvested in early September, the grapes undergo unique hand destemming. Following this, they experience a prolonged 20-25 days of skin contact and spontaneous fermentation in open-top steel vats. The wine matures in stainless steel until April, resulting in a product that epitomizes Matteo's commitment to minimal intervention winemak

Szomolya is a destination seldom stumbled upon, a hidden treasure awaiting discovery outside of Eger. In this serene enclave lies Hegyi-Kaló, a beacon of authenticity in the wine world. Amidst the rolling hills, there's no grand winery façade or prominent signage—just a humble abode, the Kaló family's home, where they craft their extraordinary wines in a cellar hand-carved into the hillside.

Imre Kaló, once a forester under the Soviet government until 1987, has since become a legendary figure in Hungarian winemaking. His unconventional methods yield wines of unparalleled character: meticulously tending to his vines to produce minuscule yields and employing up to 100 days of skin maceration for both reds and whites.
