A Word From Our Founder

Hey there,

This month’s 12 Bottle Club is a full tour of the natural wine world, packed into one box. There are reds for cozy fall dinners, crisp whites and skin-contact wines with real texture, a juicy rosé, and a bottle of bubbles for whatever deserves celebrating. This month’s wines come from eight countries, including Croatia, Chile, South Africa, Portugal and Colorado.

On the red side, you’ll find a mature Croatian Zinfandel from Kairos, a bright Chilean Pinot Noir, an elegant Elgin Pinot from Paul Clüver, and two very different Spanish reds. The whites and oranges range from Finca Suárez’s mineral Chardonnay and a salty Sicilian Catarratto to Nomad’s funky Mosel Riesling and the fruity Lettuce Crush Orange. Quinta da Raza’s Vicinus Rosado and Azimut’s Cava Brut Nature round out the box.

With this much variety, there’s a bottle for every night of the month: weeknight pasta, a Sunday roast, a cheese board with friends, or a quiet glass on the couch. Start with the lighter whites and bubbles, and save the bigger reds for when the weather really turns.

Thanks for being part of the MYSA community and for supporting the independent growers behind every bottle.

Cheers,

Holly

Club Pick 1

Organic, handpicked Malbec and Tannat grapes grown in Argentinian vineyards 2,900 feet above sea level. Fermented in stainless steel tanks and aged for 9 to 12 months in second-use French oak barrels, this wine is smooth and juicy, fruit-forward, full and layered.

Mole enchiladas, burgers with caramelized onions & blue cheese, or a pastrami sandwich with dijon mustard & pickles

Crushed blackberries, violets, wild thyme, and a hint of wet stone. Fruit-forward with firm, well-integrated tannins that add structure, and a present acidity that gives our palates a lift. A long and spicy finish, with notes of dark chocolate, cracked pepper, and a touch of vanilla

Club Pick 3

Vina Laurent is a small family winery working old vineyards in Chile's Curico Valley with a light, honest touch. Culpable is their juicy, chillable red: black cherry, baking spice and soft earthy tones with gentle tannins, the kind of easy-drinking Chilean red that disappears fast at the table.

Vina Laurent just wants to share their passion with people who love good wine, the kind that tastes like the earth it came from. It's simple, really, but oh man, is it ever tasty!

Club Pick 7

Nomad is the two-hemisphere project of Pieter Kruger and Kosie van der Merwe, and Rhizō comes from their German side: 40-plus year old Riesling vines on the steep grey slate of Steffansberg in Kröv, Mosel. Region: Elgin, South Africa

Pieter Kruger and Kosie Van Der Merwe own a negociant winery with operations in both Elgin, South Africa, and Mosel, Germany. This unique setup allows them to source grapes and produce wines in two distinct wine regions, each renowned for its own varietals and terroir. In Elgin, known for its cool climate, they have access to a diverse range of grape varieties, including Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Sauvignon Blanc. Meanwhile, in Mosel, famous for its Riesling, they can take advantage of the region's steep slopes and slate soils to create high-quality wines with a distinctive character. By owning and operating in both regions, Kruger and Van Der Merwe can explore different winemaking techniques and styles while showcasing the best of each region's unique characteristics.

Club Pick 8

A fresh, low-intervention Sicilian white made from organically farmed Catarratto grown on sandy, limestone, and marine-deposit soils at 250m elevation. The 30-year-old vines are hand harvested and direct pressed, then fermented and aged for nine months on the lees in cement tanks. Unfined and unfiltered, with just 3g of added sulfur at bottling, it offers a pure expression of fruit and Sicilian terroir.

Grilled fish, seafood pasta, fried calamari, caponata, fresh cheeses

Citrus, ripe orchard fruit, saline minerality, fresh herbs, subtle lees character, bright acidity, dry finish
