Vina Krapež

Vina Krapež wine estate is located in the beautiful village of Vrhpolje in the Vipava Valley, at the foothills of Nanos and Kovk. In the past, sea deposited rich layers of flysch and marl which make good grounds for vines.

In 1971 Jožef Jr. decides to sign a document not to give the grapes to the Vipava Wine Cooperative anymore. Since then, Krapež has been an independent viticulturer and winegrower. In 1987, Jožef’s son Martin assumed the responsibility of the cellar and wine.

About the Winemaker

Vina Krapež

Nestled in the picturesque village of Vrhpolje within the Vipava Valley, Vina Krapež wine estate boasts a rich heritage dating back to 1928 when Grandpa Jožef Krapež purchased the "Pr’potokovo" farm and laid the foundation for a family legacy in viticulture and winemaking. Influenced by the sub-Mediterranean climate characterized by the interplay of warm, moist southwest winds and cold northeast breezes, the valley's terroir of flysch and marl deposits nurtures exceptional vineyards. Over the years, successive generations, including Jožef Jr. and later his son Martin, have dedicated themselves to cultivating vines and crafting wines that reflect the essence of their land. In 1971, Jožef Jr. took a pivotal step towards independence by opting out of the Vipava Wine Cooperative.
