Daisy Merrick and Antoine Lucchesi are a dynamic duo making waves in the natural wine scene with their project, Soma Vines. Daisy, with a background in importing and distribution, joined forces with Antoine, a seasoned winemaker, in 2020. Their shared passion for natural wines led them to create a negociant project, sourcing grapes from like-minded winemakers in Germany. Since 2022, they've focused exclusively on German vineyards, ensuring quality control and supporting local growers.


What makes Soma Vines truly special is their unwavering commitment to minimal intervention. They source grapes from organically and biodynamically farmed vineyards, allowing the natural character of the fruit to shine through. In the cellar, they take a hands-off approach, relying on native yeast fermentation for a more expressive wine. They also avoid fining, filtration, and the addition of sulfur dioxide (SO2), resulting in wines that are as pure and unadulterated as possible. This dedication to natural methods translates into a unique and exciting range of wines that showcase the true potential of German grapes.

Dominique Derain stands as a trailblazer of biodynamic viticulture in Burgundy. Even prior to formal winemaking studies in Beaune, he showcased his expertise by crafting wine barrels. In 1988, he and his wife made a pivotal decision, purchasing vineyards in Saint-Aubin, a hidden gem amidst prestigious Burgundy appellations. There, they embraced biodynamic practices, utilizing organic elements like manure and silica to nurture the vines. Their dedication culminated in biodynamic certification in 1989, marking them among the region's earliest adopters.
