Amós Bañeres

Amós Bañeres is part of a movement to return to nature. He chose wine and is making superb micro Cuvées from a few tiny parcels of family vineyard. He’s part rational, part spiritual – in equal parts.

He used to work as a pharmacist, for 7 years, after training for 5 years. But he looked for more in life and out of life. So he and his wife and two young kids took off on a sailing boat to Greece for a whole year, as a result of which Amós decided to change his life and grow wine because of his passion to work with, in nature.

About the Winemaker

Amós Bañeres

Amós Bañeres, a former pharmacist, embarked on a transformative journey from the confines of urban life to reconnecting with nature through winemaking. Inspired by a year-long sailing adventure with his family, he transitioned to viticulture, drawn by a generational legacy of farming and a desire to work outdoors. Returning to school in Tarragona to study winemaking, he honed his craft and eventually took over his family's small vineyard parcels. Rejecting conventional methods, Amós blends rational knowledge with a spiritual connection to produce exceptional micro Cuvées, a testament to his dedication to quality and reverence for nature.

The Region

Penedès, Spain

In the sun-kissed region of Penedès, nestled in Catalonia, Spain, a growing community of winemakers is embracing the principles of natural winemaking with passion and dedication. Here, amidst the rolling hills and Mediterranean breezes, vintners like Maria Solé and Jordi Torres are leading the charge, cultivating vineyards with organic and biodynamic practices to produce grapes of exceptional quality and character. In the cellar, they practice minimal intervention, allowing the grapes to ferment with native yeasts and refraining from additives, fining, or filtration. The result is a portfolio of vibrant and expressive wines that capture the true essence of Penedès—wines that reflect the region's terroir, history, and spirit with every sip, offering a taste of Catalonia's natural wine revolution.
