Welcome to the April 12 Bottle Club from MYSA Natural Wine!
A note from our founder:
Happy April!
First of all, apologies for the club going out late this month! Our warehouse had part of their client portal go down and it messed with all of our orders. We really appreciate you being a part of our club and being patient with us!
Second, Hooray for fun spring wines this month. Lots of big names with Lammidia, Meinklang, Envinate, and Old Westminster. The French reds are super food friendly, the aged white from BIBIch is Pinot Gris like you never typically see and to cap it off, we have a rare Meinklang that will make you go WHOA!
Third, while we're talking about feedback, we heard you on wanting shorter videos SO, we have a new format we're starting to implement on some wines and I hope you enjoy! Again, if you have feedback my inbox is always open: holly@mysa.wine

About Domaine des Quatre Pierres
"The domain is located in Aragon, Cabardès, north-west of the medieval city of Carcassonne, on the first slopes of the Massif Central mountains, where Southern and Atlantic winds cross paths. It is split between two different terroirs: clay and limestone on ancient ocean bottom, called « alvéoline clay », and for the El Pépé cuvée, hard clay from Ventenac. These two terroirs are at an altitude of 300 meters, in the middle old wild méditerranean nature. The vineyards are farmed organically, with a special attention to copper. Manual harvest is done in small crates and the grapes are fermented and aged in the most “natural” way." - Zev Rovine

About Le Raisin et l'Ange
Antonin sees far, he wants these soils to be practicable indefinitely for generations to come and he is ready to spend 40 years there to achieve this goal if necessary. For this: minimum tillage of the soil at the foot of the ceps, anecdotal scribbling between the rows, spreading of manure no more than every 3 years, a little green manure sown, etc. Finally, he uses biodynamics without obligation, he just takes what he wants when he wants according to the real needs of the vine.

About Lammidia
Davide Gentile and Marco Giuliani were childhood friends in Abruzzo, then lost touch. When they found each other again after university, it was with a shared passion for wine, so they decided to try their hands at making it together. Since the beginning of their project, they’ve approached it with a love of both natural winemaking and avid experimentation. They’ve never trained at a formal wine academy, and they don’t rely on agronomists or oenologists. They have learned by trial and error in the vineyards and cellars. In fact, their first fermentation in 2010 was such a disaster that they called in an expert grandma, virtuosa at getting rid of the evil eye, to perform a ritual over their grapes. Apparently it worked, and Lammidia (“evil eye” in Abruzzese dialect) was born. - From Cream Wine.

About Envínate
Envínate (translates as "wine yourself") is the brainchild of 4 friends, winemakers Roberto Santana, Alfonso Torrente, Laura Ramos, and José Martínez. This gang of 4 formed back in 2005 while studying enology at the University of Miguel Hernandez in Alicante. Upon graduation, they formed a winemaking consultancy, which evolved into Envínate, a project that focuses on exploring distinctive parcels mainly in the Atlantic-inflected regions of Ribeira Sacra and the Canary Islands. Their collective aim is to make profoundly pure and authentic wines that express the terruño of each parcel in a clear and concise manner. To this end, no chemicals are used in any of the Envínate vineyards, all parcels are picked by hand, the grapes are foot-trodden, and the wines are fermented exclusively with wild yeasts, with a varying proportion of whole grape clusters included. For aging, the wines are raised in old barrels and concrete, and sulfur is only added at bottling, if needed. The results are some of the most exciting and honest wines being produced in Spain today. - Jose Pastor

About Old Westminster
The Baker family, established in 1985, didn’t always know they would spend their lives making wine together. Jay & Virginia, founders of the family, always dreamed of working with their children and preserving their farm. In 2008, all three of their children – Drew, Lisa and Ashli – were away at college, and they found themselves empty nesters. It was time to either put their land to work, or move on. Upon discovering that grapevines have an affinity for rocky soil, elevation, abundant sunshine and a steady year-round breeze – all characteristics of their land – the family explored the idea of planting a vineyard and starting a winery together. Today, Jay & Virginia support their children in the family’s wine business. And, as you can imagine, they’re enjoying the view. Not just of the flourishing vineyard, but also of the energy and determination they see in Drew, Lisa and Ashli building this great thing together. They love their children’s synergy and their ambition to put Maryland wine on the world map. Drew is Old Westminster’s vigneron. At age 22 he planted the first 7,600 grape vines on the family farm. Each year he travels the world studying his craft and honing his skills.

About Domaine Ribiera
Regis Pichon works 7.5 hecatares of vines on sloping shiste hills surrounding the small village of Aspiran in the Languedoc. He grows a range of grapes from Cinsault, Syrah and Grenache to Terette, Roussanne and Clairette . Before making wine, Regis worked as a sommelier in one of the world’s great cellars at La Tour d’Argent in Paris and at the equally renowned wine shop Hediard, where he met his wife Catherine. In 2005, Regis decided to move his family from the city to a tiny village and begin making wine. It wasn’t his background in the classics of Bordeaux or Burgundy that inspired him, but rather a bottle of Pierre Overnoy from Arbois in the Jura that opened his eyes to natural wine beauty. The wine was cleaner than he had thought a wine without sulphur wine could be and so much easier to drink than the extracted, conventional wines that he worked with daily as a sommelier. He knew that making wine rather than pouring it was his true path. Today Regis leases a small winery and shares space with David Caer, from Clos Mathélisse. They have their sights set, however, on co-owing a larger winery in the future. Regis ferments with naturally occurring yeasts and only adds small amounts of sulphur at bottling to his roughly 22,000 bottles a year. -Zev Rovine

About MicroBio
Welcome to the República Independiente del Verdejo under President Ismael Gozalo. Many know him for his work at Ossian, one of the more respectable houses in Rueda, where he was the winegrower and maker since founding it in 2004. Ismael’s family owns some of the oldest (between 100-200 years old) ungrafted pre-phylloxera vines, most of which in the town of Nieva, province of Segovia between 800-900 meters of altitud. Characterized by it’s sandy soils, these head trained vines have never seen any chemicals over the different generations that have cared for them. Though outside of the D.O. for never budging to the region’s modern and manipulative techniques, to this day Ossian remains one of the few organic producers in Rueda. Today, under the Pago de Carraovejas umbrella, Ossian continues to make some of the more interesting wines of the region but Ismael took his talent elsewhere, bringing his family’s most prized vineyards with him.
