Producer Profile

Southold Farm + Cellar

Southold Farm + Cellar, initially established on the North Fork of Long Island by Regan and Carey Meador, has since relocated to Gillespie County, Texas. Our winery and vineyard are dedicated to crafting wines that reflect their unique time and place, captivating our friends, family, and ourselves. Our winemaking philosophy prioritizes responding to each season's conditions rather than adhering to stylistic trends from other regions or seeking forced consistency.

We emphasize farming practices and employ non-interventionist methods in the cellar. As a result, our wines vary from year to year, much like individual children with their distinct personalities.

Where The Wines Come From

Texas

In the vast and diverse state of Texas, a burgeoning natural wine movement is gaining momentum, challenging the conventions of winemaking in this unconventional region. From the high plains of the Texas Panhandle to the rolling hills of the Hill Country and the arid landscape of the West Texas desert, winemakers are embracing sustainable and organic practices to produce wines that reflect the unique terroir of the Lone Star State. With a focus on native grape varieties such as Tempranillo, Viognier, and Mourvèdre, as well as lesser-known varieties suited to the Texas climate, natural winemakers are crafting wines that are vibrant, expressive, and true to their place of origin. By eschewing chemical pesticides and additives, they allow the natural flavors and aromas of the grapes to shine through, resulting in wines that are both distinctive and terroir-driven. Texas' natural wines are a testament to the region's spirit of innovation and its commitment to sustainability, offering a taste of the state's diverse landscapes with each sip.
