Producer Profile

Fuchs und Hase

Fuchs und Hase was born out of the friendship between Martin and Anna Arndorfer and Stefanie and Alwin Jurtschitsch, fueled by their shared passion for Pet Nat’s and the natural wine world.

Martin Arndorfer, a well-known figure in the wine industry, was born in 1983 and grew up immersed in the vineyard, thanks to his family business. He pursued his studies and gained extensive experience before returning home to start his own production in the heart of the Kamp valley, in the village of Strass, with his partner Anna Steininger.

It was later, in collaboration with friends Stefanie and Alwin Jurtschitsch, who were also dedicated to viticulture, that the Fuchs und Hase project began.

Where The Wines Come From

Kamptal

Natural wine production in Kamptal, Austria, embodies the region's commitment to quality and sustainability, rooted in centuries of winemaking tradition. Nestled along the Kamp River in the northeastern part of Austria, Kamptal is renowned for its picturesque vineyard landscapes and unique microclimate. Indigenous grape varieties such as Grüner Veltliner and Riesling thrive in the region's loess and granite soils, producing wines of exceptional purity and elegance. Natural winemakers in Kamptal prioritize organic and biodynamic farming practices, nurturing their vineyards with care and respect for the land. In the cellar, they employ minimalist techniques, allowing the grapes to ferment spontaneously with native yeasts and minimal sulfur usage, resulting in wines that express the true essence of the grape and terroir. The resulting wines are vibrant, aromatic, and full of character, with a sense of place that reflects the unique terroir of Kamptal. Whether enjoyed with local cuisine or savored on their own, natural wines from Kamptal offer a taste of Austria's winemaking heritage and a glimpse into the future of sustainable viticulture.
