Silvio Messana

Silvio Messana was a New Yorker who moved with his wife, Catalina and sons back to his parent's hometown Italy. When he was younger, his father planted vineyards in a beautiful farm outside of Florence and they would visit every year until it was sold to a local when his father died. Silvio turned Chianti Classico farm into their home and a portion as a bed-and-breakfast and began working on the vineyards himself. Catalina was always against using chemicals which turned the vineyard to using biodynamic practices.

About the Winemaker

Silvio Messana

Silvio Messana, a New Yorker, relocated with his wife Catalina and their sons to his parents' hometown in Italy. His father had previously planted vineyards on a picturesque farm outside Florence, and they visited annually until it was sold following his father's passing. Silvio transformed the Chianti Classico farm into their residence, with a portion designated for a bed-and-breakfast, and began tending to the vineyards personally. Catalina, opposed to chemical usage, advocated for the adoption of biodynamic practices in the vineyard.
