Project SIN

SIN is a project by vine grower Alex Ruiz and consultant winemaker Amós Bañeres to make excellent and inexpensive organic, natural wines without any additives and that are reflective of their terroir. As with their other project Els Vinyerons, the vines and winemaking space belong to Alex Rios whose family are large-scale producers of Cava and who wanted to make wine on an artisanal scale from fully organic vines.

About the Winemaker

Project SIN

SIN is a joint venture between vine grower Alex Ruiz and consultant winemaker Amós Bañeres, aimed at producing exceptional yet affordable organic, natural wines that faithfully reflect their terroir. Like their previous endeavor, Els Vinyerons, the vines and winemaking facility are owned by Alex Rios, whose family has a history of large-scale Cava production but desired to craft artisanal wines from fully organic vines. Drawing inspiration from Bañeres, whose own wines are highly limited in production, the project seeks to offer a more accessible range of wines. These wines stand out for their approachable nature, showcasing varietal character with a delicate touch uncommon in Penedès.

The Region

Penedès, Spain

In the sun-kissed region of Penedès, nestled in Catalonia, Spain, a growing community of winemakers is embracing the principles of natural winemaking with passion and dedication. Here, amidst the rolling hills and Mediterranean breezes, vintners like Maria Solé and Jordi Torres are leading the charge, cultivating vineyards with organic and biodynamic practices to produce grapes of exceptional quality and character. In the cellar, they practice minimal intervention, allowing the grapes to ferment with native yeasts and refraining from additives, fining, or filtration. The result is a portfolio of vibrant and expressive wines that capture the true essence of Penedès—wines that reflect the region's terroir, history, and spirit with every sip, offering a taste of Catalonia's natural wine revolution.
