Holger Koch

Holger’s wines are grandpa chic—that is to say, they are how Burgundy used to taste when grandpa was just a fresh young lad: pre-global warming. It used to be that you’d struggle for ripeness in the Kaiserstuhl, even though it’s the warmest climate in Germany. But with rising temperatures throughout Europe, what used to be Burgundy now tastes like Weingut Holger Koch.

About the Winemaker

Holger Koch

Holger Koch's wines evoke a nostalgic Burgundian charm, reminiscent of a time before global warming altered the winemaking landscape. Situated near Alsace, with a backdrop of WWII history, the vineyards benefit from a unique terroir and selection massale cuttings from Puligny Montrachet, infusing the wines with a French essence tinged with a German accent. Holger and Gabriele embody this cross-cultural fusion, initially appearing typically German but revealing a romantic generosity that leaves one pondering their French influence.
