About the Winemaker

Haarmeyer

Haarmeyer Wine Cellars, a family endeavor comprising Craig, Alex, Kelly, and Marian Haarmeyer, commenced its vinous journey in 2008 with fruit sourced from a vineyard near Galt, CA. Craig's fascination with Spanish and Portuguese grape varieties was fueled by the dry climate and proximity of this vineyard to his Sacramento-based home and winery. He sensed the potential of the sun-drenched, robust grapes thriving in this locale, prompting him to explore other sites and coin the term "Sacramento terroir" to encapsulate his initial endeavors. Central to their focus is Chenin Blanc, celebrated for its diverse expressions, terroir reflection, and natural resilience to oxidative aging, embodying refreshing acidity in youth and complexity with age.
