About Alfredo Maestro

Alfredo Maestro, a Castellano winegrower, stands as a beacon of authenticity amidst the modern winemaking landscape of Ribera del Duero. Born into a family that migrated to the winemaking town of Peñafiel from the Basque Country, Alfredo's affinity for wine blossomed amidst the vineyards of his upbringing. Encouraged by friends, he embarked on his winemaking journey in 1998, simultaneously planting his inaugural vineyard along the Rio Duraton near his home. Embracing organic farming from the outset, Alfredo initially followed conventional winemaking practices, diligently employing various additives and techniques to craft what was considered a "correct" Ribera del Duero wine. However, a revelation dawned on him in the early 2000s, prompting a profound shift in philosophy.
