Producer Profile

Weingut Weszeli

The Weszeli estate is located in one of the most exciting and diverse regions in Austria. The Kampta is not only geologically very diverse but also sits at the crossroads of intersecting climactic zones: Pannonian air spreads into the vineyards in summer, exuding Mediterranean-like heat during the day, however, the fresh air from the northern Waldviertel cools down the same vineyards again during night. The wines therefore combine warm, ripe aromas with a lively and gripping texture, energy and enormous tension. -Savio Soares Selections

Where The Wines Come From

Kamptal

Natural wine production in Kamptal, Austria, embodies the region's commitment to quality and sustainability, rooted in centuries of winemaking tradition. Nestled along the Kamp River in the northeastern part of Austria, Kamptal is renowned for its picturesque vineyard landscapes and unique microclimate. Indigenous grape varieties such as Grüner Veltliner and Riesling thrive in the region's loess and granite soils, producing wines of exceptional purity and elegance. Natural winemakers in Kamptal prioritize organic and biodynamic farming practices, nurturing their vineyards with care and respect for the land. In the cellar, they employ minimalist techniques, allowing the grapes to ferment spontaneously with native yeasts and minimal sulfur usage, resulting in wines that express the true essence of the grape and terroir.
