October 2021 | Red Club
Welcome to the October Red Club from MYSA Natural Wine!
A note from our founder:
Happy October club members! First of all, a big THANK YOU for your patience with us this month and last month!
As you likely saw, our old warehouse was not able to keep up with order volume, so we made a move to a larger, better equipped warehouse in Napa, CA. It’s the right move for us long-term, but with that came a few learning curves along the way this month. We appreciate your patience with the transition and are prepped to be fully back on schedule for November
Now the exciting part about the wines! This month we featured our friends at Vin de California with their Barbara blend that is literally out of this world. Next we got a little spooky with your Cinsault Halloween wine then capped it off with a complex, but still juicy rare grape from Northern Italy plus a Burgundy-esque Croatian grape that will both be great for all the fall meals you'll be starting to prep. Check them all out below!

P.S. Don't forget to join us and Jasper Hill Farms for a lovely cheese pairing event on October 28th! You can purchase the pairing cheeses here.

About The Blacksmith
"Tremayne Smith grew up in East London and studied to be a chef. Influenced by his father's love of wine, he then decided to take up a career in winemaking. After his studies, he was became the assistant winemaker and vineyard manager for Sijnn followed by Mullineux and now is the winemaker at Fable. In 2014 Tremayne started his own project. What inspired The Blacksmith was working with cultivars such as Cinsault, Carignan and Grenache, both locally and during his travels abroad. The Blacksmith's philosophy is to make natural wines that are both appealing and soul-satisfying.
Tremagne has a profound understanding of where the limits are in producing natural wines. They beat a drum of deliciousness with bracing minerality (also in the reds) and push the boundary of low alcohol wine in South Africa's more than warm mediterranean-like climate. Quantities are limited and have found their way into some of the very best wine bars and restaurants."
Friuli-Venezia Giulia - ItalyDescription:
A grape you won't fine often with a light bodied that has an intense ruby red color. The grapes come from vines that are 15 years old followed and aging is done in large barrels plus concrete. Very structured on the palate with a fruit explosion of cherries with hints of spice. Serious texture met with silky tannins.
Pairings: Risotto, Lasagna, Game
Serving Temperature: 50°- 55°
About Villa Job
"Lavinia and Alessandro traveled the Loire and Italy in search of their own style and eventually found that they were preferred the very mineral and very long-aging wines produced in the most natural way possible, with indigenous yeasts and spontaneous fermentation. In each wine they produce they try to revive the stories and personal connections they experienced in their travels. They understood the social value that a winemaker has and so their wines are their thoughts, their passions and ideas.
The Villa Job vineyards (6.5ha) are located in Friuli Pozzuolo, 90 meters above sea level where the soils range from sandy, sandy-sil, clay, sandstone and marl. Working with what nature provides them, they only use substances that can be naturally derived from nature or other simple processes. Their vines are approximately 20-years-old, certified organic, and span many varietals: Ribolla Gialla, Friulano, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, and Refosco. - Savio Soares Selections"
Dalmatia - CroatiaDescription:
A silky Croatian red from the Dalmatia region. The nose is vibrant with red cherry and hints of rhubarb. Quite light yet still very acidic and lively. This red spends 12 months aging in Burgundy barrels. A yummy combination of both red and black fruit. Some say it's like Burgundy, some say it's more green, I generally agree with all of it!
Pairings: Goat Cheese, Smoked Meat, Squash
Serving Instructions: 48°- 52°
We are a small family winery located in Plastovo. - BIBICh
