June 2022 | 12 Bottle Club
Welcome to the June 12 Bottle Club from MYSA Natural Wine!
A note from our founder:
Summer has officially arrived and we have some great picks for these months! With 3 homegrown stunners from Divergent, Two Shepherds, and Margins. Oz is on display this month as well with some crushable reds, whites, and rose. Speaking of crushable reds, we have a light red from PERU that we're stoked about! On the low ABV side we have 2 ciders that you'd likely never know were blind and the most popular orange wine we've ever carried!

About Divergent Vines
"The story of divergent vine is about an underdog, an outsider, an unknown-non-traditionally trained winemaker trying to make it in the crazy wine industry.
My road less traveled inspires me to create natural wines from lesser known grape varietals, tell the stories of vineyards they come from, and provide a unique interpretation of varietals you might be more familiar with...all done with non-intervention winemaking techniques.
So pull up a chair, pour yourself a glass, and come along for the ride. It's bound to be a journey of epic proportions.

About Two Shephards
"Our philosophy is to embrace how wines were made for hundreds of years, before the introduction of chemicals and flavor manipulation. We guide our wines along, protect them from harm, and otherwise do not intervene. This old world style allows for the true expression of the variety, vintage and vineyard.
All of our wines are aged in neutral barrels that subtly enhance the wines' texture, but impart no oak flavors. Our wines are fermented naturally with native yeast, are aged on the lees, with minimal sulfur and are minimally racked.
We focus on Rhône and uncommon varieties, often from the only few acres available in California. While our total production is small, our offerings are vast. Nicknamed ‘insane master of small lots’, William crafts about 15 different wines each vintage, including some that are only 1 – 2 barrels.
These are old world, elegant wines focused on brightness, subtlety and texture. We hope you enjoy them. Cheers! - William & Karen"

About Oenogenesis
"Oenogenesis is owned and operated by one of the greatest oenologists of Greece, Bakis Tsalkos (trained and experienced in Montpellier and Bordeaux for most of his life). He belongs to the generation of oenologists who revived the Greek wine industry, and he single-handedly created the winemaking industry of Drama in the 80’s, the youngest one of Greece. His principle is the absence of anything chemical, with as little intervention or spraying in the vineyard as possible. At least 85% of grapes used, grow in the 30 ha of estate owned vineyards. - Eklektikon"

Serving Temperature: 42°- 48°
About Cidrerie du Vulcain
"The Vulcain is the favorite butterfly of the Cidrerie du Vulcain. The insect represented on the label opposite (artwork by Gisèle Rime ) is a faithful friend during harvesting in the fall, tending to the fruits bursting on the ground. Its populations are here and at this time of the year increased by migrants from northern Europe
The Cidrerie du Vulcain processes fruit from the local Friborg orchard, namely apples, pears and quinces of old varieties grown on high stems and untreated. The Friborg terroir with its cool climate and the diversity of its soils allows an expression of very beautiful nuances in the aromas, this all the more on the old high-stem trees.
The fruits are purchased directly from the producers and sometimes I also take care of the harvest. This approach contributes to enhancing the value of old high-stem orchards currently abandoned for lack of outlets on the cider and table fruit market. This allows the preservation of a diverse and rich traditional landscape, essential to biodiversity. The approach was also supported by the FSP (Swiss Landscape Fund).
The company's flagship products are sparkling cider partially fermented using the ""guillage"" technique of Clairette de Die or corked cider from Normandy and Brittany. The ciders are available in different cuvées from one year to the next, depending on the varieties available. These ciders are always ""pure juice"", fermented on their wild yeasts and coarsely filtered.
Pasteurized apple juice and pear juice are also produced, in 5 or 10 liter cartons. The cider vinegar and fine apple aged in barrels are still confidential, but their production will be expanded little by little.
The cider house also offers custom pressing and pasteurization services for owners wishing to obtain juice from their own fruit. - Jacques Perritaz"

About Cacique Maravilla
Manuel Moraga Gutierrez is the owner and winemaker of Cacique Maravilla, a winery focused on traditional and non-interventionist Chilean wines in Yumbel in the Bio-Bio Valley of Chile’s Southern Regions. Manuel is the seventh generation of the Gutierrez family to call Yumbel home, and at least the fourth generation to tend vines. His great, great, great, great, great grandfather, Francisco Gutierrez Gutierrez, arrived in Chile in 1750 from the Canary Islands in search of gold and eventually amassed enough treasure to acquire land in Yumbel, some of which has remained in the family and is still owned by Manuel Moraga today. Francisco Gutierrez earned the respect of the local indigenous Mapuche people and was given the nickname ‘Cacique Maravilla’ (roughly translating to ‘Magnificent Chief’).

About Margins
"Margins produces low-intervention wines using grapes from underrepresented regions, vineyards, and varietals. We are part of the growing movement in California to make wines from vineyards farmed organically or in organic conversion using minimal additives during the winemaking process, thereby showcasing the vineyards the grapes came from.
Much like people living on the 'margins of society,' vineyards can be outcasts too. Most consumers of wine are only familiar with a handful of grape growing regions and types of wine. Margins draws attention to vineyards and varietals throughout northern and central California that find themselves on the margins without the recognition they deserve.
Part of the Margins mission over the last five years has been to work with small growers to transition their vineyards from conventional to organic farming by providing guidance as well as assurance that the grapes will have a home. We believe that if we worked solely with organic vineyards, we would not be using our role in the industry to its full potential to enact agricultural change. As of vintage 2021, all the vineyards Margins works with are farmed organically.
Margins is a winemaking endeavor of Megan Bell, a winemaker living and working in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Prior to settling on the central coast of California, Megan received her BS in Viticulture and Enology from UC Davis in 2012 and apprenticed in wineries and vineyards in Napa, the Livermore Valley, the Willamette Valley, Central Otago (NZ), and the Loire Valley (France). - Margins"

"I love wine. I have been making wine all over the world for close to two decades. I have been drinking wine all over the world for longer. I love how I feel when I walk through vineyards. I love the journey of turning grapes into wine. I love to watch the personalities develop in every single barrel and I love to observe the effect of the years passing on bottles of wine. To drink my friend's wines brings me so much pleasure as does discovering wines from artists and places that I don't know.
I think wine can be felt. I get so much joy making the Charlotte Dalton wines that surely, you will feel joy when you drink them. I firmly believe that a wine must be made with a happy heart and a content soul. And that is, simply, why I make the Charlotte Dalton Wines; to bring me joy, happiness and contentedness and to share and hopefully pass those feelings on to you through the wines.
In case you were wondering; Dalton is my middle name and was my Grandfather Hardy's christian name. When my 3 brothers and I were little children, my amazing and dearly missed mother, used to tuck us into bed at night and say ""love you, love me - love me, love you"" - Charlotte Hardy x"
