About La Collina

The La Collina Agricultural Cooperative was founded in 1975 by a group of young people from Reggio Emilia who believe in the possibility of combining life, work and acceptance of social hardship. Initially, agricultural activity was traditional and focused on vines, fodder, cereals and cattle and pig breeding. Subsequently, it was decided to extend the cultivation to vegetables, sold directly on the farm. After a few years, the founding group's philosophy of life collides with the conventional chemical agricultural method, which impoverishes the land by polluting the earth and not giving the much vaunted results, results that do not take into account the salty bill paid by mother nature and all the community. In 1985, therefore, it was decided to adopt the organic farming method in crops and breeding, guaranteed by Icea , Institute for Ethical and Environmental Certification. The interest in respecting nature and the Earth leads the Cooperative to deepen the knowledge of the biodynamic farming method conceived in the 1920s by Rudolf Steiner, founder of anthroposophical science. In 1996, it became the cultivation method practiced throughout the company, continuously deepened thanks to the contribution of researchers such as Eugene Kolisko, Pleiffer, Maria Thun, Alex Podolinsky. The La Collina Agricultural Cooperative believes in biodynamic agriculture as a safeguard for the environment and for human well-being. This way of working the land considers soil fertility, biodiversity, and the environment as common goods to be returned with an added value to future generations, therefore it respects the limits in production, while maintaining an efficient economy and guaranteeing excellent responses from agronomic point of view and the quality of the products obtained. 15000 sqm of greenhouses 23 hectares of vegetables.
